Evelyn Whitley Harris, 57, of the 3900 block of Biscayne St., died June 21, 2000, at Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond.
She was a native of Isle of Wight County and the daughter of the late Woodrow W. Whitley and Fannie Butler Whitley. She was a member of Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church and the Nansemond River Pilot Club.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Phillip Harris of Suffolk; sisters, Shirley Bishop of Hopewell, Va., and Judy Evans of Alexandria, Va.; brother, Raymond Whitley of Salisbury, Mass.; nieces, Michelle Knight of Suffolk, and Sarah Whitley of Salisbury; nephew, Philip Whitley of Salisbury; and several other nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Ruffin Alphin. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Christian Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Contributions may be made to the Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 312 E. Constance Road, Suffolk, VA 23434.
