Virginia Westbrook Brooks, 91, died July 17, 2002, at Courtland Healthcare.
A native of Southampton County, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Rivers and Rosa Turner Westbrook and was the widow of Walter Elvin Brooks. Mrs. Brooks was a graduate of Mary Washington College, and a former elementary school teacher in Sandston, Va. She was a member of the Sebrell Woman's Club, Sebrell United Methodist Church and Sebrell United Methodist Women.
Survivors include two daughters, Elleen B. Romer and her husband, Steve, of Colonial Heights and Silvia Brooks of Sebrell; a son, Adrian E. Brooks and his wife, Linda, of Courtland ; a sister, India W. Phillips of Sandston; five grandchildren, Tracy and Blake Romer, Kerry and Kenny Clarke and Ashley Brooks; and a nephew, Bruce Phillips.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Riverside Cemetery by the Rev. Elizabeth V. Walker. The family will receive friends at the home of Silvia Brooks, 18080 Carys Bridge Road, Courtland . Memorials may be made to the Courtland Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 439, Courtland , VA 23837 or the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 1224, Franklin, VA 23851. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge.
