SUFFOLK - Helen Tidwell Horton Taylor, 81, died May 28, 2002, at Obici Hospital. Born Jan. 13, 1921, in Nansemond County, Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Mallie Harcum Tidwell and widow of Frank Royal Taylor. She was predeceased by her husbands, Leonard Perry Horton and James Flaherity Horton. Mrs. Taylor was a member of Liberty Spring Christian Church.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Pat O'Neal of Suffolk, Hope and Jerry Meadows of Gates, N.C.; grandchildren, Brian O'Neal and Kelly Hardison; great-grandchildren, Braxton and Brent Hardison, Hannah and Heather O'Neal.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Liberty Spring Christian Church by the Rev. Sallye Hardy with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at 225 Freeman Mill Road. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH, 44720 or the Arthritis Foundation, 900 Commonwealth Place, Suite 101, Virginia Beach, VA 23464.
