ANNIE BLANCHE STORY DRAKE

Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - July 18, 1997 

Blanche Story Drake, 66, of the 25000 block of Bows and Arrows Road, died July 16, 1997. 

Mrs. Drake was a native of Southampton and had retired after 22 years of service from Isle of Wight County Public School as a bus driver. She was a member of Colosse Baptist Church for 35 years, where she was a proud member of the choir and director of the junior choir. She was also a member of the Windsor Rescue Squad. 

Survivors include her husband, Dock Vick Drake; her father, Jessie G. Story of Newsoms ; two daughters, Mary Anne Taylor and her husband, Blake, and Betty Lou Goodman and her husband, Mitch, all of Franklin; four sons, Jerry Wayne Drake and his wife, Linda, and Hank Anthony Drake and his wife, JoTee, all of Windsor, Freddie Carroll Drake and his wife, Jackie, of Colosse, and Stephen Story Drake of Franklin; two brothers, Jesse L. Story of Chesapeake and James L. Story of Franklin; eight granddaughters, Buffy Drake, Annissa Griffith, Vicky Griggs, Melanie Pearce, Shannon Drake, Candy Drake, Lisa Drake and Heather Goodman; four grandsons, Gerald Taylor, Jody Taylor, Mitchell Goodman and Joseph Dock Drake II; three great-grandchildren, Gerald Blake Taylor III, Kelly Elizabeth Taylor and Scott Elden Lee Griggs. She was predeceased by her mother, Minnie Hill Story, a son, Joseph Dock ``Pug'' Drake and a grandson, Freddie Dock Drake. 

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Colosse Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Lee Bowers, the Rev. Kenneth Williams, the Rev. Howard Vinson and the Rev. William Hawkins. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery , Newsoms . The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and at other times at the home place on Bows and Arrows Road. Memorials may be made to Windsor Rescue Squad, Windsor, Va. 23487.
