FRANKLIN - Grace Saunders Forbes, widow of George Daniel Forbes Sr.,
died June 1, 2006 at Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Suffolk, she
was the daughter of the late Ray Jerome and Ethel Butler Saunders and
granddaughter of the late Rev. Harry Harrison and Helen Sarah Whitehurst
Butler. She was a member of the Suffolk Christian Church and the
Daughters of the American Revolution Constantia Chapter in Suffolk. Mrs.
Forbers was the oldest living member of the Southampton Memorial
Hospital Auxiliary having served 6,103 recorded volunteer hours.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law G.Daniel and Pattie C.
Forbes of Franklin; two grandchildren, Winston Henderson and Carrie
Bigler; and two great-grandchildren Cameron Grace Bigler and Georgia
Claire Bigler. A graveside funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in
Poplar Spring Cemetery with Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating. The
family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral
Home and suggests memorials be made to the Suffolk Christian Church, 216
North Main St., Suffolk, Va. 23434.
