Thelma Roberts Holland, 83, died Nov. 25, 1999, at Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Holland was born in Nansemond County and was the daughter of the late David Gray and Ophella Doughtie Roberts and the widow of Charlie Simms Holland. Mrs. Holland was retired from Roses Department Store after 33 years of service and was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mildred H. Faison and Nancy H. Edwards and her husband, Earl, all of Franklin; a foster daughter, Terry Jackson of Virginia Beach; a sister, Virginia D. Jernigan of Suffolk; a brother, David Ray Roberts of Richmond; five grandchildren, Martha Edwards of Suffolk, Wanda Blythe, Renee Pope and Keith Edwards, all of Franklin, and Dawn Purvis of Courtland; and nine great-grandchildren, Elyse and Zac Edwards, Tyler and April Blythe, Brittany and Dillon Pope, Haley and Seth Edwards and Nadia Purvis. Mrs. Holland was predeceased by several sisters and brothers and a son-in-law, Glenn K. Faison.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Lafayette Wilkins and the Rev. Dr. Reginald Warren. The family will receive friends at the home of Nancy and Earl Edwards, 101 Holly Cove St., Franklin. Wright Funeral Home is in charge.
