Margaret Ellen Raiford Smith, 54, died May 19, 1998, at home.
A lifetime resident of Ivor and member of Calvary Baptist Church, she was the daughter of Pearl Jones Raiford and the late James J. Raiford Sr.
Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband, John William Smith; her daughter, Kathy Britt of Colonial Heights; three sons, Paul W. Smith of Capron, David J. Smith of Wakefield and Kimball Smith of Waverly; her brother, James J. Raiford Jr. of Oklahoma; her sister, Judy Raiford Carr of Ivor; and eight grandchildren.
A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Paul F. Presley in Ivor Cemetery . Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield. Memorial donations may be made to the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad.
