Mrs. Hubbard graduated with B.S. degrees in biology and physical education from Longwood College in 1947 and became a school teacher. She taught in Roanoke before returning to Sedley where she joined the Franklin school system. Mrs. Hubbard co-founded Hubbard Peanut Company, Inc. (Hubs) with her husband, HJ, by developing a recipe that had been handed down for generations by families in her native Southampton County. Began as a way to stay at home with her four children, Mrs. Hubbard's venture in the kitchen quickly grew through word of mouth into a business that ships Virginia peanuts all over the world.
