IVOR - Cora O'Neal Munford Luter (twin), 86, died March 5. (2005)
Born March 11, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Etta Miranda Grant
Munford and John Irvin Munford. She was the widow of Jospeh W. Luter and
was also predeceased by a daughter, Ida May Vick, seven sisters and five
brothers.
Mrs. Luter was a member of Ivor Baptist Church where she attended every
Sunday until her health kept her from going. She was an honorary member
of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad, by which she
was proud in 1986, to be crowned "the First Dolly Parton."
She enjoyed life, people and the monthly meeting of the Senior Adult
Ministry (better known as the SAM Club). She enjoyed to the fullest many
activities such as short trips to many famous attractions, playing bingo
and working with her crafts, especially plastic canvas that she shared
with everyone she met.
Survivors include three daughters, Arlean Ricks and husband David, Linda
Murphy and husband Sidney and Jo Anne Kitchen and her husband Johnny;
eight grandchildren, Renee' Felts and husband Michael, Rhee' Cumbey and
husband Bobby, Randi Foster and husband Jimmy, Nancy Gray and husband
Lee, Joey Vick and wife Demetra, Joe Murphy and wife Jami, Lynn Murphy
and Lee Kitchen; 12 great-grandchildren, Hillary Drake, Taylor Felts,
Casey Cumbey, Bradleigh Cumbey, Andy Foster, Alexis Foster, Jessica
Gray, Ida Gray, Anthony Vick, "DJ" Murphy, Briana Murphy and Kevin
Murphy; a step-grandchild, Alexis Jacobs; and numerous nieces, newphews
and friends.
A funeral was held March 8 in the Chapel of Purviance Funeral Home,
Wakefield, with the Rev. Dr. Roger Crump and the Rev. Larry Burkhart
officiating. Interment followed in Ivor Cemetery. A reception was held
at Ivor Baptist Church following the committal service. The family
received friends at the funeral home.
