SUFFOLK - Evelyn Lawrence Harrell, 87, of the 400 block of Drum Hill Road, died May 27, 1999, in her residence.
A native of Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Abner Frank Lawrence and Alice G. Sawyer Lawrence and the widow of William Willard Harrell. She was a member of Holy Christian Church and a member of the Ladies Star Bible Class of Bethlehem Christian Church. Mrs. Harrell was a former nurse for Lakeview Hospital.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jean Cowan of Suffolk; a granddaughter and her husband, Emily C. and Curtis E. Williams of Orange Park, Fla.; a grandson and his wife, Edward Lawrence and Carol B. Cowan of Carrsville, Va.; two great-granddaughters, Lisa M. Knight and Melody Taylor; a great-great-grandson, Blake Scott Taylor, all of Orange Park; a sister, Frances L. Jenkins of Chesapeake; and a nephew and his wife, John and Loretta Jenkins, both of Chesapeake.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hill Funeral Home by Dr. Merle D. Correll. Interment will be in Somerton United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence. Contributions may be made to the Whaleyville Fire Dept., 6235 Whaleyville Blvd., Suffolk, VA 23434, or Nansemond-Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, VA 23439.
