Betty Joyner Brock, 66, died April 3, 1999, in her residence after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Born in Southampton County, she was a homemaker and a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. She was a member of the Kingdom Builders Sunday school class and the Church's Senior Citizen Group. 

Survivors include her husband, Rossie E. Brock Sr.; a daughter, Betty Brock Slaton and her husband, David, of Franklin; a son, Rossie E. Brock Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Windsor; five grandchildren, Amie Slaton, Keith Slaton, Matt Brock, Magen Brock and Graham Brock; three sisters, Elizabeth Turner Baldwin, Rachel Rhodes and Hunter Cowling; a brother, Lewis Joyner; and nieces and nephews. 

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Holland-Rideout Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Steve Bradshaw. Burial will be in Beaver Dam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
