Beatrice Joyner Vaughan, 83, died May 21, 2002. A lifelong resident of Isle of Wight County, she was the daughter of the late Clifton and Blanche Butler Joyner and the widow of Reginald Edward Vaughan. A member of Mount Carmel Christian Church, Mrs. Vaughan served as choir director for many years, was a past deaconess, Sunday School teacher, member of the Golden Age Club, Ladies Bible Class, and Women's Missionary Society. 

Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Vaughan and husband James A. Riddle of Walters; a son, Marion E. Vaughan and wife Kathryn of Newport News; two brothers, James E. Joyner of Zuni and C. Russell Joyner of Vero Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kathy V. Lewis, S. Craig Vaughan and John E. Vaughan; and three great-grandchildren. 

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Mount Carmel Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, and suggests memorials be made to Mount Carmel Christian Church Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, 27882 Walters Hwy., Walters, VA 23481.
