Virginia Parker Johnson Allport died Jan. 14, 1997, in Southampton Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Allport was a native of Franklin and was the daughter of the late Gertrude Vaughan and John Burnett Johnson and the widow of Robert Braxton Allport. She attended Harrisonburg State College (now JMU) and was a retired private secretary at Camp Manufacturing Co. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.
Survivors include her niece, Carolyn Carver Johnson Stutts of Franklin; a stepdaughter, Mrs. L.J. Foley of Warrenton, Va.; a stepson, Robert Braxton Allport Jr. and his wife, Betsy, of Franklin; great-niece, Sherwood Stutts Dixon of Blythewood, S.C.; three great-nephews, John Burnett Stutts of Franklin, Robert Lawrence Stutts of Powhatan, Va., and Douglas Peyton Stutts of West Columbia, S.C. She was the sister of the late John Burnett "Cotton" Johnson.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Poplar Spring Cemetery by the Rev. Dr. Roy DeBrand. Wright Funeral Home is in charge.
