Obituary of Margarette "Peggy" Horton Jester

MARGARETTE HORTON JESTER

Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - May 4, 1999 

Margarette ``Peggy'' Horton Jester, 68, a principal partner in the Jester Insurance Agency, died May 3, 1999, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. 

She was born on Aug. 21, 1930, in Lake Wales, Fla., a daughter of the late Lee R. and Edith Goodmanson Horton. Mrs. Jester, who participated in many Little Theatre musical productions in the area, was also a member of the Franklin/Southampton Music Club, Southampton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Charles R. Younts American Legion Unit 73 Auxiliary. She was a member of High Street United Methodist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. 

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, C. Franklin Jester Jr.; two sons, Franklin L. Jester and his wife, Becky, of Franklin and William H. Jester of Blacksburg; a brother, Roger Horton and his wife, Betty, of Lake Wales, Fla.; two grandchildren, Meredith and William; and a sister-in-law, Jean Horton of Lake Wales, Fla. She was predeceased by three brothers, Lee R. Horton Jr., Warren H. Horton and Andrew Horton. 

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Edward C. Johnson. Burial will be in Poplar Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home and suggests that memorials be made to a favorite charity.
