WAKEFIELD Mildred Holloway Blankenship, 88, died at her home Dec. 8. (2002)
Born in Prince George County, Aug. 22, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Joshua Holloway and Ethel Monroe Holloway. A former member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Disputanta, she was currently a member of Wakefield United Methodist Church. Mrs. Blankenship retired in 1876 after 18 years of service with The Progress Index newspaper publication.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy B. Edwards and husband Bobby of Franklin; one grandson, Duane A. Tucker and wife, Joanna of Bayfield, Colo.; her devoted sister, Virginia H. Wicks of Wakefield; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Darwood Rowen officiating. The family received friends at the home in Wakefield. Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad, Waverly, Va. 23890 or Wakefield Volunteer Fire Department, Wakefield, Va. 23888.
