Milton Franklin "Shorty" Vick Sr., 68, of the 25000 block of Mount Horeb Road died Sept. 15, 1996, in St. Mary's Hospital, Richmond. 

Mr. Vick was a lifelong resident of Southampton County and was the son of he late Bertha Fuller and Herbert E. Vick Sr. Milton Vick was the retired owner and operator of Boykins Saw Service. He was a member and former deacon of Newsoms Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman. 

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Jane Ellen Holloman Vick; a daughter, Pam V. Leaf and her husband, David, of Richmond, Va.; a son, Milton F. "Frankie" Vick Jr., and his wife, Sarah, of Lexington, N.C.; sisters, Evelyn V. Davis of Raleigh, N.C., Virginia V. Icard of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Carolyn V. Pollard of Richmond; brothers, Darrow L. Vick of Midlothian, Va., and Herbert E. Vick Jr., and Carroll N. Vick, both of Franklin, Va.; four grandchildren, Katherine and Rebecca Leaf and Matthew and Cameron Vick. 

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hollywood Cemetery, Newsoms, by the Rev. Kenneth Williams and the Rev. T.C. Williams. Memorials can be made to the Boykins Rescue Squad, Boykins, Va. 23827 or the Newsoms Baptist Church, Newsoms, Va. 23874.
