SUFFOLK  Virginia Dare Holland Jernigan, 74, died Sept. 30, 2000 at Obici Hospital.
  A native of Nansemond County, she was the daughter of David Hurley and Allie Deborah Roberts Holland. She was also predeceased by a son, Robert Ray Jernigan, Mrs. Jernigan was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. 
  Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Mallie Robert Jernigan; a daughter, Dr. Phyllis J. Broughton and her husband, Baxter, of Greenville, N.C.; a son, Tommy Brooks Jernigan and his wife, Susan, of Suffolk; three sisters, Dana Lyttle of Pensacola, Fla., Mary Lester of Norfolk and Patsy Blanchard of Suffolk; two brothers, Gilbert Holland and Phil Holland, both of Suffolk; and six grandchildren, Rebecca Virginia Broughton, Robert Brooks Jernigan, James Brodie Jernigan, Natalie Jena Jernigan, Olivia Nicole Jernigan and Elizabeth Leighann Jernigan.
  A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home. Burial will in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. 
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 902 Pennsylvania Ave., Suffolk, VA 23434.
