ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Lois Turner Whitley, 57, of the 100 block of Spruill Drive, died June 4 in Albemarle Hospital.
Born in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Josephine Leona Monds Turner. She was a tax preparer for H & R Block and had also worked with both Earl’s and BeLo supermarkets in Portsmouth. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and its Women’s Missionary Union in Hertford, N.C.
Survivors include two daughters, Regina Meade and her husband Greg of Mocksville, N.C. and Elizabeth Ann Grimes of Virginia Beach; a son, Clarence Hardison Jr. of Portsmouth, two stepdaughters, Meredith Ann Snyder and Amanda Nichole Powell and a stepson, William Whitley Jr., all of Portsmouth; her fiancé, William C. Jump, Jr. of Hertford; and nine grandchildren.
The family received friends June 6 at Swindell Funeral and Cremation Services in Herford and will accept visits other times at the home of Traci and Jeff Pierce, 125 Wildwood Drive, Hertford.
A funeral was held June 7 in Bethel Baptist Church. Graveside services were held in Poplar Spring Cemetery, Franklin.
