IVOR - Lynda Gordon Cook, 59, passed away Dec. 28, 2005, at Sentara
Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk. Born May 23, 1946, she was the
daughter of the late James Gordon and Mary Nixon Gordon. Lynda worked as
a bus aide for the Isle of Wight County Public Schools for the past four
years and was a member of Mill Swamp Baptist Church. She loved to camp
out and loved her puppies, Angel, Mikie, Peppy and Penny.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband, John R. "Monk" Cook of Ivor;
daughter, Patricia C. Drake and husband Edward of Courtland; sons,
Robert H. Cook and wife Cole of Windsor, John P. Cook and fiancee Nick
of Smithfield; her sister, Mary G. Wells and husband Jim of Disputanta,
Va.; six grandchildren, Brandi, Rebekah, Robert Jr., Cody, Kaleigh and
John; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at Mill Swamp Baptist Church, Ivor, at 2 p.m.
Saturday with the Rev. Jim Jones officiating. Interment will be in
Tucker Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Zuni. The family will receive
friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mill Swamp Baptist Church Fellowship
Hall. Memorial donations may be made to the Mill Swamp Baptist Church
Building Fund, 6329 Mill Swamp Road, Ivor, VA 23866. Purviance Funeral
Home, Wakefield, assisted the family with arrangements. Condolences may
