Elsie Faison Babb, 82, a resident of Ivor, Va., since 1941, died Dec. 14, 1999, at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital in Suffolk. A native of Wakefield, Va., she was a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Mae Dillard Faison. Mrs. Babb worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Ivor and was a member of Ivor United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Shelton H. ``Biddie'' Babb.
She is survived by her son, Shelton H. Babb Jr. of Richmond; two daughters, Mary Shelton Babb of Richmond and Mildred B. Bransford of Kenya, E. Africa; a brother, R.L. Faison Jr. of Newport News; a sister, Alice Mildred Buckman of Fuqua-Varina, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Eula Faison Johnson, Sallie Faison Freeman Neblett, Dillard Faison, Harwood ``Preacher'' Faison and Ashley Faison.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, with the Rev. Randy Duncan and the Rev. Don Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Ivor Cemetery . The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Ivor Volunteer Fire Department or to the Ivor Volunteer Rescue Squad.
