Mary Gwynn Darden, 51, died Nov. 7, 1998, in Louise Obici Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of G.G. Darden and a daughter of the late Ernest Gwynn and Sarah Bradshaw Evans. Mrs. Darden was retired from Roses Department Store in Franklin, and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Darden Worrell, and her husband, James, of Suffolk; her son, Ernie Darden of Suffolk; a sister, Lucy E. Johnson of Franklin; a brother, Jim Evans of Franklin; and her granddaughter, Courtney Worrell of Suffolk.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, by the Rev. Dr. Roy E. DeBrand and the Rev. Dr. Ira D. Hudgins. The family will receive friends at the home of James and Sarah Worrell, 2013 Kilby Lane, Suffolk, and suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 27, Carrsville, Va. 23315, or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ruth Petty, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, Va. 23851.
