Elizabeth E. Duke, 95, died Oct. 1, 1999. 

Miss Duke was a native of Isle of Wight County. She was a retired teacher from the Isle of Wight County School System. A graduate of Suffolk High School and Harrisonburg Normal School, now known as James Madison University, she was a very active and dedicated member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church. 

She was predeceased by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Duke, and a brother, John F. ``Jack'' Duke, formerly of Carrsville. Survivors include a sister, Louise E. Duke of Franklin; a goddaughter, Phyllis K. Story and her husband, Gilbert, of Edenton, N.C.; and godgrandchildren, Peggy Beth Jones and her husband, David, of Carrsville, LeeAnn Alexander and her husband, Wes, of Courtland; great-godgranddaughters, Samantha and Ashley Jones; and a special care provider, Betty Lou Goodman. 

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today at Beaver Dam Baptist Church by Dr. Richard Peerey. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Donations may be made to Beaver Dam Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 3593 Carrsville Hwy., Franklin, VA 23851 or to Carrsville Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box, Carrsville, VA 23315. Holland-Rideout Funeral Home is in charge.
