VIRGINIA BEACH – Doris Lillian Jacovides died peacefully at 2:20 a.m. Jan. 23.
  Born in Norwich, England, she was the eldest child of the late Emily Eaves and George Albert Drake and sister to Betty Lowrie of Hampton; Daphne Allen and Peggy Harwood of England; and Phyllis Brewer of Lakewood, Calif.
  She was predeceased by a daughter, Anastasia; and her husband George Nicholas Jacovides.
  She met and Married the “love of her life” in England and together they traveled to the United States in November 1945 to make a home for their three daughters in Franklin.
  In 1966, the family moved to Virginia Beach where she and her husband owned and operated the Suntide Motel on Atlantic Avenue for many years. In 2001, she moved to Murfreesboro, N.C. where she lived with daughter, Daphne, until her death.
  Survivors include her three daughters and their husbands, Deirdre and Ed Dean of Virginia Beach; Daphne and Stanford Vann of Murfreesboro; and Peggy and Terry Hardee of Virginia Beach; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren: Jennifer Oliver and husband, Jamal and their tow sons, Bishop Braedon and Aidan Nicholas of Austin, Texas; Kristin Dullack and husband, Steve of Chesapeake and their son, Jacob Edward; Brian Dean of Montreal, Canada; Heather Wilson and husband Jim, and their two daughters, Emma Grace and Georgia Kate of Waynesboro; John Michael Van and wife Niki and Andrew Van of Murfreesboro; and Scott Hardee and Paige Hardee of Virginia Beach. She adored her grandchildren and anticipating the birth of her great0grandchildren gave her the strength to fight her illness even harder.
  A Trisagion service was held Jan. 26 at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apt., Laskin Road Chapel. A funeral was conducted Jan. 27 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral by the Rev. Fr. Costa G. Christo, and the Rev. Fr. Constantine P. Rogakos. Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery followed by a reception in the Hellenic Center at the church. In lieu of flowers, donation in her name are encouraged to be made to the Gilda Radner Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry to help fund research.
