Louise Downs Joyner, 94, passed away Feb. 10, 2004, in Bayside Health
Care.
A native of Gates County, N.C., Mrs. Joyner was the daughter of the late
Denny and Emma Downs and the widow of Bernard W. Joyner. She was a
loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was loved by
all who knew her.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn Andrew of Portland, Ore.
and Esther Briner and her husband Capt. Robert Briner, U.S. Navy retired
of Virginia Beach; and a son, John K. Joyner of Stuart, Fla. She is also
survived by her sister, Emily D. Phillips of Raleigh, N.C.; seven
grandchildren, Laura Sansevere, Tim Joyner, Denise Long, Elizabeth
Briner, Jackie Oaks, Bryan Oaks and Barry Oaks; and seven
great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson, Bobby Briner; two
brothers, Earl and Milton; and a sister, Frances.
A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. in Olive Branch
Cemetery with the Rev. Jonathan Bennett officiating. The family will
receive friends at Holloman-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, today
from 7 to 9 p.m.
