CAROLYN JANE DARDEN

Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - April 1, 2003 

Carolyn Jane Darden, 53, died March 30, 2003 after a long illness. A native of Southampton County, she was a 1968 graduate of Southampton High School and a 1969 graduate of Smithdeal-Massey Business College in Richmond. She was retired from the accounting department of Franklin Equipment Company and was a member of Barnes United Methodist Church. 

Survivors include her parents, John Ashley and Jane Edwards Darden; a brother, John Ashley "Jay" Darden Jr. and his wife, Susan, all of Newsoms ; two nephews, Michael Brian Darden of Ferrum College and Wesley Adam Darden of Newsoms ; two aunts; and two uncles. Carolyn was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Rose Darden; her maternal grandparents, Lucille Brett Edwards and R.D. Edwards Sr.; paternal grandparents, Willie Mae Parker Darden and Harvey James Darden Sr.; and an uncle, R.D. Edwards Jr. 

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hollywood Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Gary Hartman officiating. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin.
