COURTLAND - Margaret Crowder Crenshaw, 79, died April 17 at her home.
Born in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Cornelius H. and Ethel Nash Crowder.
Mrs. Crenshaw, who attended Madison College and earned her nursing degree from St. Elizabeths Hospital in Richmond, was a 1st lieutenant with the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. She was a nurse with the Southampton County school system for 20 years and a member of Capron Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, John Edward Crenshaw; a daughter, Rosalind Crenshaw Cutchins and husband Kevin of Suffolk; a son, Richard N. Crenshaw of Reva; and two granddaughters, Kelsey and Lindsay Cutchins.
She was also predeceased by a grandson, Zachary C. Cutchins; and a brother, H. Lewis Crowder.
A funeral was to be conducted at 11 a.m., April 19, in Capron Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Robinson officiating. A 3 p.m. committal service was to follow in Mount Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery, Old Cox Road, Chase City.
Memorials may be made to The Childrens Center, 700 Campbell Ave., Franklin, VA 23851 or to Capron Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 128, Capron, VA 23839. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, has charge of arrangements.
