Janice Madron Crawford, 83, died July 4, 2002, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Crawford was the widow of Stuart Cottrell Crawford. She retired from Cypress Cove Country Club in September 2001 and was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. 
Survivors include two sons, Joseph C. Chase and wife Barbara of Texas and T. Carter Crawford and wife Shelia of North Carolina; a daughter, Barbara C. Rideout and husband David of Virginia; four grandchildren, Rusty Chase and wife Karen, Jonathon Rideout and wife Leigh-Ann, Jennifer Rideout and William Stuart Crawford; two step-grandsons, Stuart and James Crawford; and three granddaughters, Lindsey, Lauren and Leigh-Ann Chase. 
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Dr. Ira D. Hudgins officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and other times at the residence, 23084 Homestead Lane, Franklin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ruth Petty, 116 Southampton Road, Franklin, VA 23851.
