Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - November 6, 1999 

EdaLane Chappell Barrett, 89, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Nov. 5, 1999. She was born in Hollis, Okla., a daughter of the late John Lane and Ida Manara Rankin Chappell. 

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, William Henry ``Bill'' Barrett; a daughter, Manara Anne Patterson; two sons, John Christopher Barrett of Richmond and Anthony William Barrett of East Peoria, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Peggy Johnson Barrett of Windsor and son-in-law, Brian Owen Patterson of Carrsville; four grandchildren, Barrett Alexander Patterson of Carrsville, Amy Marlane Barrett of Washington, D.C., Christi Ann Barrett and Creighton Russell Barrett, both of Charleston, S.C.; three great-grandchildren, Cara Lane Johnson of Sydney, Mont., Susie Weltikol of Billings, Mont. and Gina Bialoracki of Richmond, Ky.; three great-great-grandchildren, Dillon, Megan and Audra Lane; special nephews and a niece, Michael and Billy and Joan Wolfe. She was predeceased by a daughter, EdaLane Corrine Daggs. 

A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Poplar Spring Cemetery with the Rev. James W. Browder III officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence at 5144 Carrsville Hwy., and suggests that memorials be made to the Franklin Alzheimer's Association, c/o Mary Frances Newsome, P.O. Box 937, Franklin VA 23851. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge.
