Johnnie D. Vann, 79, of 25125 New Market Road, died April 9, 1996, at Courtland Health Care Center.
He was a native of Northampton County, N.C., He was the son of the late Charlie and Fannie Odom Vann. Mr. Vann had retired in 1979 after 32 years as a millwright with Union Camp Corporation. He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sarah Byrum Vann; five daughters, Peggy V. Brady of Richmond, Ann Vann of Portsmouth, Thelma V. Barnes of Courtland, Elna V. Derato of Mt. Airy, Md., Vicki R. Daughtrey of Boykins; three sons, J.D. Vann and Jimmy O. Vann of Franklin, Jerry E. Robertson of Sedley; brother, Dudley S. Vann of Conway, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Southampton Memorial Park by the Rev. Dr. Reginald Warren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, and suggests that memorials be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research, 15825 Shady Grove Road, Suite 140, Rockville, Md. 20850-4022.
