    FRANKLIN - Janet Bryant Burgess, 79, widow of Elmo (Pretty) McCoy Burgess, passed away Sept. 27, 2002, in Southampton Memorial Hospital. Born in Northampton County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Hattie Lassiter and Willie Bryant. She was a member of Vincent's Grove Methodist Church and a homemaker. 
   Survivors include three daughters, Gale B. Duke and husband Jimmy of Franklin, Carole B. Eckel and husband Paul of Minneapolis, Minn., Linda B. Carter and husband David of Franklin; a son, Mac Burgess and wife Shelly of Chesapeake; a sister, Eunice Everett and husband H.D. of Capron; a brother, Johnny Bryant of Boykins; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. 
   A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in Southampton Memorial Park with the Rev. Steve Cuthbertson officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 1224, Franklin, VA 23851.
