Obituary of Helen Ruth Britt Fowler
HELEN RUTH BRITT FOWLER

Franklin - Helen Ruth Britt Fowler, 85, widow of Burley Robert Fowler,
went to be with her Lord and Savior Aug. 5, 2004. Helen was born Feb. 6,
1919, in Southampton County, the daughter of the late Percy Lee and Ruth
Council Britt. Her mother died of the flu when Helen was only four days
old. She was then raised by her Mama and Daddy, Lillian Bowden Britt and
Yancy Pryor Britt. Helen, a born again Christian and lifelong member of
Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, lived a life filled with patience,
generosity and unconditional love. A tireless prayer warrior, Helen
believed all were in need of prayer. She loved to cook, clean and care
for family and friends, then sit quietly and watch as they enjoyed the
fruits of her labor.
Survivors include her three sons, Burley McCoy Fowler and wife Carolyn
and Russell Wayne Fowler, all of Franklin and Robert Clifton Fowler and
wife Kay of Sedley; a sister-in-law, Frances Britt of Waverly; a special
friend, Dianne Fowler; two granddaughters, Helen's "Angel of Mercy",
Tracy F Bachelor and husband Rick and Melissa R. Fowler, all of
Courtland; two great-granddaughters, RuthAnn and Lori Bachelor; two half
sisters, Tiney Mae Holt and Dollie Stanfield; and three half brothers,
Thomas, Mack and John Britt. Mrs Fowler was predeceased by two brothers,
Clifton Britt and Roger Britt; four sisters, Pearl Worrell, Nora
Council, Nannie Britt, and Ella Mae Cobb; and two half brothers, Bonney
and Delano Britt.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Tucker Swamp Baptist
Church with the Rev. Steve Bradshaw and Rev. Dr. Rob R. Edwards
officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home and
suggest memorials be made to a favority charity or mission fund.
