Mary Helen Edwards, 76, of the 500 block of Cedar Court, died May 1, 1998, in Obici Hospital.
She was a native of Gates County, N.C., the daughter of the late William Herbert Askew and Lona Raby Askew. She was a homemaker and a member of Whaleyville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Robert E. ''Bobby'' Edwards; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita Ann E. and Marvin H. ''Boots'' Mathews of Suffolk; a son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Paula Jean Edwards of Suffolk; and grandchildren, Paul Mathews, Lori Mathews, Angela Ruest and William E. Edwards Jr.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in Holly Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Billy Presley. Friends may join the family from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hill Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
