A native of Nansemond County, he was the widower of Teresa Luckett Wright and son of the late Lemuel Wright and Ida Corbett Wright. He was predeceased by a brother, Hersey L. Wright Sr., and sisters, Fannie W. Brinkley, Gertrude W. Brinkley, and Dorothy W. Wise. He retired from civil service for the State Department. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church. Survivors include two sisters, Claudine W. Owens of Suffolk and Gladys W. Jones of Chesapeake; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday [17 October 2000] in Sidney F. Harrell Funeral Home by the Rev. Bill Thomas. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
