MOUNT, N.C. - Mrs. Ella Ledford Wood, 75, active many years in the school, church and civic life of Rocky Mount died Thursday morning. 

Born in Petersburg, Va., she lived in Rocky Mount 50 years. She graduated in 1907 from Greater Rocky Mount University. She was a member Methodist Church and King's Daughters. 

Surviving are her husband, George E. Wood Sr.; four sons, George E. Wood Jr., Marvin L. Wood and Waverly R. Wood of Rocky Mount and James B. Wood of Norfolk; five daughters, Mrs. Hazel W. Jones of Durham, Mrs. Ella W. Stecher of Gainesville, Fla., Mrs. Ida W. Fitzberger of Hagerstown, Md., Mrs. Edith W. North of Augusta, S.C., and Mrs. Katherine W. Smith of Tarboro; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
