Kirk was a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan. Kirk was predeceased by his mother, Dolores Tillett Whitley and two brothers, Doug and Trent Whitley. Survivors include his father, Jim "Bunk" Whitley (Gerry), and one brother, Scott Whitley (Heather) of Burlington, NC, and his former wife and friend, Grace. A funeral will be held at 11 AM Friday September 22, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Gibson, Rev. Jim Hyatt and Rev. Dr. Charles Qualls, officiating. The burial will follow at Poplar Spring Cemetery. Following the service there will be a reception at Franklin Congregational Christian Church. The family will receive friends in Wright Funeral Home, Thursday September 21, 2023 from 6 to 8 PM.
