Whitfield STAUNTON - The Rev. Samuel Bradshaw Whitfield, 69, of the 300 block of Old Greenville Road, died at 1:54 p.m. Sunday (2 October 1994) at the University of Virginia Hospital. He was born 31 December 1924 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Hutson B. and Mamie B. (Bradshaw) Whitfield. Rev. Whitfield was pastor of the Westside Baptist Church, Staunton, for many years and before retirement was employed by the former Stanley Furniture Company, Waynesboro, for 10 years. He was a member of the Society of Whitfields in Mount Holly, N.C. Survivors include his wife, Nellie Byers Whitfield; three sons, George Robert Whitfield of Seoul, Korea, John Edward Whitfield of Staunton and Paul David Whitfield of Manassas; a daughter, Carolyn Whitfield Dull of Staunton; a stepson, Richard Douglas Lotts of Hampton; a brother, Hutson B. Whitfield Jr. of Suffolk; and five grandchildren. A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Henry Funeral Home, 1030 W. Beverley St., Staunton, by the Rev. Jack B. Wilkers. Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park, Augusta County.
