WHITE Exum Newby White Jr., 71, a lifelong resident of Southampton Co., died May 21, 1996. He was born November 29, 1924 and was the son of the late Alice Winston and Exum Newby White. He was a birthright member of Bethel Friends Meeting and served in civilian public service during World War II. Newby and his beloved wife of 51 years, Virginia Blythe White, had made their home on the farm in Hunterdale since 1947. Newby operated dairy during the fifties. Newby was a former dairyman, truck driver, general contractor, logger, sawmiller and wood producer. He was an avid motorcyclist and steam engine enthusiast and inventor designer of tools for special needs. Their children are Alice Burgess and her husband, Tom, Mary Kathryn Gray and her husband, Calvin, the late Exum Newby White III. David Winston White, Viki White-Wade and her husband, Tex. Newby and Virginia have ten grandchildren, Ken Burgess and his wife, Lori, Jim Burgess and his wife, Helen, Tobi White Byrd and her husband, Jimmy, Audra, Candace and Cal Gray, David Winston White Jr., Amanda White, Zak and Texi Wade: one great-grandson, four-month-old James Dylan Burgess. Newby is also survived by his sisters, Sadie Taylor and her husband, Richard of Oberlin, Ohio and Julie Reynolds and her husband, Delbert of Grass Valley, Calif.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
