Richard enjoyed delivering newspapers, and pizza and was a big sports fan. He attended school in Suffolk and graduated from John Yates High School. 

He is survived by his father Bill Werkheiser and step mother Marie; brother Gary Werkheiser and wife Louise of Corapeake, NC. 

A Funeral Service for Richard will be held Monday June 22, 2015 at 1 PM Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502 by Rev. Mark S. Hambrick. The family will receive friends Monday June 22, 2015 from 11 am to 12 noon in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23452 Condolences may be offered at BakerFoster.com.
