Richmond - Virginia Dare Wellons, 89, passed away June 30, 2022 in Lakewood Retirement Community. Born in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Wood Wellons, Sr. and Pearl Spivey Wellons. She was also predeceased by a sister, Edna Mae Vick.

Virginia Dare was a graduate of Franklin High School and Chowan College. She retired from the Virginia Baptist Board in Richmond on June 30, 1997 and was a former employee of Union Camp Corporation in Franklin. She was a member of Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond and a former member of Franklin Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her memory is her twin brother, Floyd W. Wellons, Jr. and nieces and nephews, Alton "Sonny" Vick, Jr., Carolyn "Connie" Yarbrough (Steve), Nita V. Carr, Robert W. "Bobby" Vick (Nancy), Cindy W. McFarland (Frankie), and Floyd W. "Woody" Wellons, III (Connie).

A Graveside Service will be held at 11AM Saturday, July 2, 2022, in Poplar Spring Cemetery in Franklin with Rev. Tim Webb officiating. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Lakewood Retirement Community, 1900 Lauderdale Drive, Henrico, VA 23238.
