George Thomas (Tommy) Wade Jr 7 AUG 1939 - 24 JAN 2014 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- George Thomas "Tommy" Wade, Jr. August 7, 1939 - January 24, 2014 Franklin - George Thomas (Tommy) Wade, 74, lost his battle with cancer January 24, 2014 at his home. Born August 7, 1939 in Franklin, VA, he was the son of the late George T. and Virginia Skinner Wade. He was predeceased by sister, Mary Page Granzeau. He graduated from Franklin High School where he answered to his nickname, The Fonz. He was a past member of the Franklin Fire and Rescue Department. Tommy retired after 41 years with Union Camp Corp. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Virginia (Tootie) Whitley Wade; his daughter, Lynn Wade Rollings; son, George Michael Wade, of Franklin; grandson, Matthew S. Rollings, of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, Lindsey Wade, Dylan Wade, Joshua Wade and Rachel Wade of Wendell, NC.; special friend, Glenn Porter and his best pal, his dog Penny. Tommy enjoyed his home, his family, his pets and entertaining friends who dropped over for a Budweiser in his back yard. The memorial service will be conducted at 2 PM on Sunday, January 26, at Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Gibson officiating. Visitation will follow the service and burial will be private. The family would like to thank Hospice and Comfort Keepers, with a special thanks to Nikki and Kim, for taking such good care of him.
