Posted Dec 31, 2014 by linda Ritchie PFC. CARLTON R. WILLS SEDLEY YOUTH LOSES LIFE IN KOREAN WAR Mr. and Mrs. Earl R. Wills of Sedley were notified this week that their son, Pfc. Carlton R. Wills, had been killed in action in Korea on March 22. The young soldier, who would have been 19 years of age on April 18, was a member of Co. I, 27th Infantry Regiment. Pfc Wills was educated in the schools at Sedley and Courtland. He joined the army in September, 1950, and sailed for the Far East in December. Surviving him are his parents: one brother, Charles Chapman Wills of Sedley; and one sister, Mrs. Gilbert Braswell of Windsor. Funeral services for Pfc. Carlton R. Wills, 27th Infantry, United States Army, who was killed in action in Korea on March 22, last, were conducted at 2:20 o’clock Monday afternoon of this week in the Sedley Baptist Church by the pastor, Rev. L.M. Kanipe. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley, with full military honors. Members of Battery "B", 129th AAA Battalion, served as pallbearers, and "Taps" was blown as the casket was lowered into the grave. The pallbearers were Elmo Bass, Thomas Daughtrey, Jack Hundley, Frank Keeter, Norman Lankford and Everett Rutledge. Pfc. Wills was a son of Earl Russell and Ruby White Wills of Sedley. He was a member of the Sedley Baptist Church.
