She was a native of Newsoms, Va., and a resident of the Peninsula for many years. Gladys retired from Noland Company after many years of service. She was a former member of Parkview Baptist Church and attended Lower United Methodist Church in Hartfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lars G. Larson, and her sister, Virginia Blythe. She is survived by two sons, Melvin Douglas Davis and his wife, Susie, of Maryland, and Steven George Larson and his wife, Gladys, of Topping; one daughter, Carol Ann Purdham and her husband, John, of Roanoke; and five grandchildren: Holley Elizabeth Ott, Erik Steven Larson, Todd Allan Purdham, David Lars Purdham, and Gregory Chase Withers. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, 11 June, at Riverside Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Les Trail of Lower United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Riverside Funeral Home.
