He was born August 1, 1929 in Lawrence, Massachusetts to the late Emilio and Antonetta Verdolotti. John was a proud U. S. Navy veteran who served his country from 1949 to 1969, through two wars. He was a member of the elite specialty unit UDT and two-time U. S. Navy Golden Glove Boxing Champion. After his service, he worked for the U. S. Postal Service until he retired. In his retirement years, he enjoyed substitute teaching and coaching. John was loved in his community for mentoring and coaching youth sports. He was passionate about caring for his family and his church, St. Therese. In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Verdolotti. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; son, John F. Verdolotti , Jr., his wife Jill, and grandchildren Morgan and Lindsay; daughter Connie Padilla and grandchildren Christina Revels and Theresa Greene; many great-grandchildren; his brother Frank Verdolotti and his wife Dot; sister Phyllis Muraco; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p. m. Tuesday, December 5, at Baker-Foster Funeral Home, 5685 Lee Farm Ln., Suffolk. A Liturgy of the Resurrection will celebrated at 11 a. m. Wednesday, December 6, at Church of St. Therese, 4137 Portsmouth Blvd., Chesapeake, with a reception in the church hall immediately afterwards. Following the reception, burial will be in Albert G.
