She was also predeceased by a sister, Nancy Ann Griffin Fore and a brother, Virgil S. "Tinker" Abel, III. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse for Portsmouth Naval Hospital and a member of the Virginia Nursing Association. She was a member of Franklin Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 53 years, Lonnie Mitchell Vaughan; a daughter, Amy Michelle Vaughan of Greenville, NC; a son, Loren Christopher Vaughan of Franklin; and two grandchildren, Winston McCourry Vaughan and Gabrialla Francis Vaughan. A Memorial Service will be held at 2PM Friday, September 15, 2023 in Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Charles Qualls officiating.
