He was a retired veteran of more than 50 years of service with the Seaboard Airline Railroads. He was born near Franklin and had been a resident of Norfolk most of his life. He began his work with the railroad at the age of 13, retiring in 1943. He was general baggage agent for many years. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, Norfolk, and Norfolk Lodge, No. 1, AF&AM. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Estelle Warner Vaughan; two sons, C. W. Vaughan Jr., Norfolk, Dr. Edwin W. Vaughan, Greensboro, N.C.; a grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. J. T. Vaughan, Franklin, Mrs. Harper and Mrs. Alline Vaughan Lindsay, of Coinjock, N.C., five nieces and nephews.
