Lenora Vasoti Obituary Lenora Albright Vasoti March 13, 1936 - February 9, 2024 Franklin - Lenora "Nora" Albright Vasoti, 87, entered her Heavenly home on February 9, 2024. Nora was born in Pittsboro, NC on March 13, 1936, an only child of the late Richard Norman Albright and Frances Gladden Albright. She grew up in Lexington, NC and earned a business teaching degree at Columbia College, Columbia, SC, where she proudly served as Senior Class President. Nora was predeceased by daughter Susan Vasoti Ward, infant grandson Daniel John Ward, and beloved standard poodle, Homer. Left to cherish her memory are James John Vasoti, husband of 62 years; daughter Denise Vasoti Tinkham (Jeff) of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren James Spencer Tinkham (Megan), John Clayton Tinkham, Boyce Thompson Ward, Lenora Carolyn Ward, and son-in-law Kenneth Charles Ward. Nora also leaves behind a legacy of former Southampton Academy students, of whom she was extremely proud. Mark Twain said, "The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why." The why in Nora’s life was to be her best throughout her many roles: Christian, daughter, teacher, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and friend. She cherished each role, especially that of friend, which was interwoven into her being. A favorite saying was, "The best way to have a good friend is first to be a good friend." There are other life lessons Nora embodied: "It’s not what you gather, but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived." and "A Genuine smile never needs translating." Nora was blessed with a natural artistic talent, focused on using her hands and ingenuity. She loved cooking, which was proudly displayed at family gatherings. Cookbooks were read the way others read novels. The family is profoundly grateful to the following: Vickey Beale, Nora’s caregiver, comforter, and friend; as well as the caring, competent staff of The Village at Woods Edge, The East Pavilion, and Hospice of Virginia. Funeral services will be private. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Franklin Presbyterian Church, 405 Lee Street, Franklin, VA 23851 or Southampton Academy, 26495 Old Plank Road, Courtland, VA 23837.
