Robert Lee Turner Jr 23 SEP 1919 - 27 JAN 1960 SMITHFIELD- Robert Lee Turner, 40, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon at home in Smithfield. He was a native of Isle of Wight County and had lived in Smithfield 21 years. He was a welder in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 49 and of the Smithfield Baptist Church. He was a son of Mrs. Robert H. Stancell and the late R. L. Turner Sr. of Norfolk. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Tera Crocker Turner of Smithfield; a brother, Libey M. Turner of Norfolk, and two sisters, Mrs. Luther Rose and Mrs. Thomas Tabb, both of Norfolk. Funeral services will be conducted at Bullock Funeral Home Friday at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be in St. Luke's Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has, asked that a donation be made to the heart fund.
