He was a member of Franklin Congregational Christian Church and retired mill foreman for Birdsong Peanut Company. He enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 58 years, Jessie Griffin Turner; one daughter, Susan Joyner of Courtland; one son, George W. Turner, III and his wife, Judy, of Wakefield; three grandchildren, Calli Joyner and Nathan and Anna Belle Turner; three nieces and his faithful companion, Buddy. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 31, 2015, at the Franklin Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. James H. Hyatt, Jr. officiating.
