Obituary – Stewart – Robert Curtis Class of 1942 Robert Curtis Stewart September 28, 1921 – February 11, 2002 Robert Curtis Stewart, 80, died at his home after a long illness on Monday, Feb. 11, 2002. Born September 28, 1921, in Red Rock, Okla., he was the son of Guy Peter Stewart and Ruby Maude Gorton Stewart. A 1942 graduate of Perry High School, he retired from Ford Motor Co., Norfolk, assembly plant. He was a member of Avalon Church of Christ, where he served as a former elder. Mr. Stewart served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Mr. Stewart is survived by his wife, Janie R. Stewart; his daughter, Cathy Turner of Riverdale, Ga.; two brothers, Benny Stewart and Joseph Stewart, both of Wichita, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four stepchildren, David Knight, Toni Million, Joe Starkey and Cookie Jones. A funeral will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, by James A. Bennett. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park.
