John W. Stephens Sr. 

WALTERS - John William Stephens Sr., 67, died Wednesday 23 Feb 1972 in Southampton Memorial Hospital, Franklin, after a brief illness. 

A native of Isle of Wight County, he was the husband of Mrs. Mary Holland Stephens.

He was a livestock dealer and farmer, a member and deacon of Colosse Baptist Church, and a member of Walters Ruritan Club. 

Surviving, besides his widow, are one son, John William (Billy) Stephens Jr. of Walters; four sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Powell of Zuni, Mrs. Lucy S. Cutchin of Walters, and Mrs. Adele L. Carr and Mrs. Jesse B. Rhodes of Carrsville; two brothers, Faris A. Stephens and Junie J. Stephens, both of Carrsville; and two grandchildren. 

A funeral service is scheduled at 11 a.m. today 25 Feb 1972 in Colosse Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Joseph L. McTeer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with W. J. M. Holland & Sons Funeral Home in charge.
